DreamCup Solarcar 2008 Suzuka

Now it is the 2nd year in Solarcar team @ Osaka Institute of Technology Team Regalia SC and finally it's time to retire. It's going to be a memorable experience,especially the 1st 2 years in the team, where a lot of work and effort involved in building the car. It may not be perfect but at least we had the ball rolling.

Financial constraints, lack of financial and technical support, few members and etc were reasons that we couldn't progress much but also personal problems did cause a few setbacks to the team such as slow progress and delays. Now I just wonder when I work, how am I going to cope up with work if I'm still single ? With years sharing my own thoughts and personal stuff with so many people, leaving no room to talk to someone special and keeping it private between both of us.

Finally the race is over and now summer holidays is in. Time to concentrate on research fulltime and to pass down the juniors, tasks that I've done so far. Some CAD lessons for the juniors and renting a 350Z and a Mazda Roadster over the public holidays. Yup, need to drive good cars to relieve myself as well as a review on these machines. I won't have the chance to drive it back in Malaysia, so while being able to grasp the chance of driving it, take it out for a spin while it is possible to do so.

Back to the race, it was fine but unfortunately setbacks on the track such as 3times tire burst caused us to fail to meet our target (of 60 rounds). The tyres we used was the same with last year's event but the quality dropped to the point of having to change it every few rounds. Last year's event, over 35 rounds there wasn't a single tyre burst.

Then comes with personal issues regarding members. Well well... I guess as long there aren't any communication among members, there won't be any understanding and there will always be rivalries and conflicts among members. But well life is like that...

On final note, I'd like to wish the 2008/2009 OIT Team Regalia members the best for the times ahead. Participation in 2009 DreamCup SolarCar and World SolarCar Challenge in Australia and other solarcar events in other parts of the world.

OIT Team Regalia was formed among the 2nd year students of Osaka Institute of Technology in 2006 and consists of 10 members (including the lecturer in-charge). The name Regalia as defined below;

-"A plurale tantum for the privileges and the insignia characteristic of a Sovereign.
The word stems from the Latin substantivation of the adjective regalis, 'regal', itself from Rex, 'king'."-

coined to represent the university's image as it didn't have anything to carry the university's image. Initially it began as a Solarcar team, but now expanded with the inclusion of Student Formula SAE Team.
