Ramadhan Al-Mubarak
Finally the sacred month of Ramadhan has come and in this month, shaitan is chained up, The gates of Hell is closed and the Gates of Heaven is wide open. It is nothing more than a commandment by Allah (or in English you call it God) which was sent down before us (before Prophet Muhammad SAW) As been described in the Noble Qur'an,
O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, so that you will (learn how to attain) piety
Noble Qur'an 2:183
As mentioned what was decreed before us refered to phophets such as Jesus, Moses, David, Abraham, till Adam. So what we Muslims do aren't something that came out about 1400 years ago but ever since before the Old Testament came out.
So it's going to be 30 days of fasting, no food , no water, no sex, no smoking from the start of Morning Prayers (about 1.5 hours before sunrise) till Sunset. Basically for half a day, one have to keep himself away from doing such acts that voids fasting.Since there is less or no whispering of shaitan, that leaves to our soul crying for food , drink and sex during the day.
On a scale that impacts our daily life inside and outside Ramadhan is to be mindful of our tongue, to watch where we spend our money, to be careful where we are going and to caution ourself from what we are looking. These are little things that many of us tend to forget but making fasting meaningful is to understand the impact of fasting. You know backbiting, wasting money, walking to places of shameful activities, looking at women like as if they are sex objects etc...and start ones dirty fantasies about it.
This particular month is also a high time to seek forgiveness from Allah for past sins and asking the Lord to increase in one's Iman (Faith) and to be a better Muslim (A better person who submits, surrender, obedient, peace and sincere to God).
Well I'd like to wish all Muslims a happy fasting and may Allah guide us all...
